Creamy Italian Sausage Pasta
This 30 minute pasta is a family favorite for good reason. It's made with only a few ingredients like Italian sausage, peppers, spinach, and fresh parmesan. Also known as pantry pasta, because you can easily sub out ingredients with what you have on hand and it's still yummy!

Ingredients
- 5 ct Italian sausage links or 1lb ground
- 16 oz pasta bucatini
- 14.5 oz diced tomatoes Italian Style
- 16 oz heavy whipping cream small carton
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1 small white onion thinly sliced
- 2 small Bell Peppers thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp avocado oil or olive oil
- 1 tbsp all purpose flour
- 2 tbsp butter
- 4 oz spinach
- 1/3 cup parmesan cheese garnish
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tbsp cajun seasoning
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- salt, to taste
Instructions
- Generously salt water for boiling pasta. Cook according to the package instructions. When done, reserve 1 cup of pasta water. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet or pan, heat oil over medium heat.
- Remove the sausage links from their casings and crumble them into the skillet. Cook the sausage until browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes.
- Add the thinly sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté until they are softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add in flour and stir. After 2 minutes, stir in 2 tbsp of butter.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, heavy whipping cream, parmesan cheese, and chicken broth.
- Add the seasonings. Mix and bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes.
- Add in the cooked pasta. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
- Stir in the spinach with 1/2 cup of reserved pasta water. Cover and cook until wilted, about 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with Parmesan cheese, if desired. Serve hot.
